Shawn Michaels Turns Down GRR, Impact Departure, Undertaker News

With the Greatest Royal Rumble event set to take place later today in Saudi Arabia, WWE has been attempting to pull out all the stops for the show over the past few weeks. Given that the show will be headlined by a 50-man Royal Rumble match, it makes sense that the company would go out and look for stars to fill some of those spots. During X-Pac’s 1, 2, 360 podcast, it was revealed that WWE actually asked WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels if he would be interested in participating in tonight’s Royal Rumble match. Despite a “huge money offer” sent Shawn’s way, it was noted that Michaels turned down WWE’s offer and has plans with one of his kids this weekend that’ll keep him from attending the show in Saudi Arabia.
Impact Wrestling has been recruiting some new stars from Lucha Underground and on the independent circuit lately. Given the recent influx of talent, it only makes sense that some of the older Impact roster members would be phased out. Case in point, Braxton Sutter has just confirmed on Twitter that he is no longer working for Impact Wrestling. After making a few appearances for the promotion, Sutter was signed to a full time deal with Impact in 2016. PWInsider has reported that Sutter was granted his release after he asked for it during the last set of Impact TV tapings. Impact Knockout Allie, Sutter’s wife, still works for the promotion at the moment.

My time at @IMPACTWRESTLING is up and I would to extend a HUGE thank you to them. They gave me my first official contract/job as a wrestler at 35yrs old and hired my wife at the same time. I’ll never forget that. It was a great chapter in my life, now onto the next one!! pic.twitter.com/5tB2CZKdBg

One of the biggest attractions for tonight’s Greatest Royal Rumble event is undoubtedly the return of The Undertaker. “The Deadman” will be making a rare in-ring return during the show in Saudi Arabia tonight when he faces Rusev in a Casket Match. Not only will “The Phenom” be getting back in the ring later tonight, but a few photos posted on Twitter recently have revealed that The Undertaker has been training with an interesting member of the Raw brand. The Undertaker has been working out with Elias in Saudi Arabia in preparation for his match later today. It will definitely be interesting to see The Undertaker back in the ring for the first time since WrestleMania 34 later on tonight.
