Bomb Threat Reported At Santa Rosa Academy Charter School In Menifee

MENIFEE, CA — The Menifee Police Department is investigating a bomb threat received late Monday morning at Santa Rosa Academy charter school.

“As a precaution, the school has been placed on lockdown while the threat is investigated,” the law enforcement agency reported around 12 p.m. “School administrators and police are on campus working together to safely escort students and staff away from the school. Avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.”

Residents are asked to avoid the area around the campus that is located at 27587 La Piedra Road. The school serves more than 1,500 K-12 students.

The threat was reported around 11:30 a.m.

At the same time, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported a hazmat incident in the area. According to fire department spokesperson April Newman, firefighters were called at approximately 11:30 a.m. to Lowe’s Home Improvement store at 30472 Haun Road. The store is less than a half mile from the school.

Further information about the hazmat incident was not immediately available. Calls to the store were not answered as of 12:10 p.m.

Newman said firefighters were summoned to Lowe’s by Menifee police.

“The Menifee Police Department is the investigating agency,” Newman said.
