Bow Police Investigating Fatal, Fiery Crash On Route 3A

BOW, NH — Bow police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a fatal, fiery crash on Route 3A on Tuesday.

Around 6:30 a.m., Capital Region fire dispatch began receiving calls about a car on fire and a man down in the middle of the highway between Vaughn and Robinson roads. Bow firefighters and EMTs immediately requested mutual aid and an off-duty tone. Hooksett EMTs were then requested to the area.

Witnesses reported a motorcyclist was speeding before driving into the truck and exploding. When firefighters arrived, they reported the motorcyclist was down on the ground, and the box truck was fully engulfed in flames. About 10 minutes later, Hooksett EMTs arrived.

The Bow fire commander confirmed one death at the scene while advising Route 3A would be closed “for an extended period of time.” The Hooksett ambulance was released from the scene a few minutes later.

Moments before the crash, a Concord police officer working another case told their dispatcher they were almost struck by a motorcyclist driving exceedingly fast at the intersection of Grandview Road and Route 3A. New Hampshire State Police troopers, assisting Concord with a robbery and kidnapping incident at the Gully Hill Shell gas station, were pulled from that case to assist Bow.

Bow police confirmed one person died at the crash scene and that the roadway was reopened around 10:30 a.m. Specific information about the case will not be released until the next of kin has been contacted.
