Raw ratings down for Payback go-home show

Raw last night fell to a near record low mark with 3.00 million viewers.

It would have been the lowest number since football season ended, and the fourth lowest number since 1997 for a show that didn’t go head-to-head with football. The three shows that did worse were against a blockbuster NBA playoff game and the two weeks against the 2016 Olympics.

The audience dropped 10 percent from last week and last week had a stronger NBA game head-to-head.

Raw finished fourth for the night on cable behind NBA playoff games that did 3.91 million viewers and 3.02 million viewers, as well as Tucker Carlson Tonight that did 3.18 million viewers.

It was a lackluster show with a weak first and third hour. There was nothing as far as a strong marquee value on the show, with a main event of Chris Jericho & Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz and a nonexistent mystery partner who ended up being Bray Wyatt at the end of the match.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 3.00 million viewers
9 p.m. 3.14 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.88 million viewers

Here’s a chart from Paul Fontaine that looks at the last 20 weeks of Raw ratings compared to last year:
