Woman Kept Stealing From Target On Plainfield Road: Joliet PD

JOLIET — On two consecutive days, 41-year-old Heather Clancy of Joliet visited the Target store on Plainfield Road with the intention of stealing valuable merchandise from the retail store, according to Joliet police arrest logs. During her second visit, Clancy was captured and taken away in handcuffs, Joliet police charged her with two counts of retail theft.

At noon on Saturday, officers responded to the Target at 2701 Plainfield Road for a retail theft. According to police, officers learned that Clancy had entered the store and taken two bottles of tequila, clothing and personal care products and walked out of the store without paying for the items and placing them in a vehicle before returning to the store.

Officers located her in the store and placed her in custody without incident. The merchandise was recovered from her vehicle in the parking lot.

During this investigation, police said officers were notified by Target employees that Clancy was also suspected of stealing a bottle of tequila and a pair of jeans from the same store on the previous day, July 5. Clancy was charged for this incident as well.

Clancy was not brought to the Will County Jail for booking. Instead, Joliet police gave her a notice to appear in court for her pair of retail theft charges.
