Vince McMahon reimburses WWE $17.4 million for hush money investigation

Vince McMahon has reimbursed costs in relation to the investigation into hush money payments made while he was CEO of the company.

According to a securities filing Friday afternoon, McMahon made a $17.5 million dollar payment to WWE on March 23. In addition, McMahon agreed to also reimburse the company for additional costs related to the investigation subsequent to January 31.

McMahon announced his retirement in July of 2022 after the Wall Street Journal reported that the WWE Board of Directors was investigating McMahon for using company funds for hush money payments in regards to sexual assault allegations. In January of this year, McMahon used his power as majority shareholder of WWE to insert himself back into the Board of Directors, reshaping the board that ultimately voted to put him back in position as Chairman of the company. In a press release, McMahon said he was making the moves with the intention of facilitating a sale of WWE.

Despite McMahon's moves, Nick Khan remains the CEO of WWE, and Triple H remains head of creative content. Stephanie McMahon, who was co-CEO with Khan, stepped down shortly after her father came back into power.
