Transformer Blows As Cops Seize $15.39M In Cannabis From Illegal LA Grow Op: State
LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities recently seized over 1,000 lbs. of marijuana — worth more than $15 million — from an illegal grow operation in Sylmar, according to the state Department of Cannabis Control.
The department’s Law Enforcement Division made the seizure on June 25. Authorities executed a search warrant at the indoor cultivation operation in Sylmar, which was located near a school, in order to seize 1,008 lbs. of cannabis flower and 16,632 plants, a department spokesperson told Patch Monday.

The cannabis was worth around $15.39 million, according to the department.

“During the operation, the transformer attached to the building blew putting the safety of the officers inside at risk,” the spokesperson said.
Cannabis officials were assisted in the operation by the LA Department of Water and Power, the LA School Police Department and city fire and code enforcement officials.

The building’s power was disconnected by DWP and the LA Fire Department red-tagged the structure, according to officials.
