T20 World Cup: The Curve Bat, A Brainchild Of Dhoni, Is Used By Pandya, Rahul And Pant
T20 cricket has evolved the game in many ways and many Indian cricketers are altering how their bats are shaped as per TOI.
A really close look at the bats used by the likes of Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, it’s noticeable that they have pronounced curves at the bottom. The man behind this is MS Dhoni and this adjustment helps with power-hitting.
According to TOI, Dhoni, who has been a mentor for Pandya and Pant, had come up with the suggestion in a bid to make their T20 game improve.

“It was Dhoni who had first started using this kind of bat before the 2019 World Cup. And now these Indian players have started asking for this kind of bat,” said Paras Anand, managing director of leading sports equipment manufacturer Sanspareils Greenlands.
“These bats are ordered specially for shorter formats. The players claim that it helps them access all directions of the ground while shot-making. A bat with a flat bottom prompts a relatively closed stance whereas the round-bottomed bat enables them to have a more open stance that helps them to maneuver the bat easily from the word go,” he added.
“If one shaves the bottom and makes it round, the bat has a thicker base and has more meat at the bottom,” he went on to say.
Right now these players are taking part in the T20 World Cup Down Under. India have won both their games so far vs Pakistan and Netherlands. The next game is vs South Africa on October 30.
Dhoni was at the helm when India became the first T20 World Champions in 2007.
