Pet Of The Week: 'Blossoming' Bud Loves Long Walks And Movie Nights

BABYLON, NY — “Blossoming” Bud is a resident of the Babylon Animal Shelter and is Patch’s Pet of the Week.

“He is one of my favorites and I am praying his story reaches someone’s heart,” long-time shelter volunteer Christine Franke told Patch.

He’s around six or seven years old and is a shy, silly dog who just wants to be by someone’s side and enjoy the company, she added.

Bud is so motivated to find a match, that he even has his own Facebook page, Bud Needs a Home. According to his bio, he’s “sweet, handsome, friendly, loves long walks and makes a great couch buddy for movie night.”

But time is ticking for Bud to find the home he deserves and share the love he has to give.

He arrived at the shelter in October of 2022—nearly two years ago, and far too long for any animal to spend couped up.

According to Franke, Bud arrived at the shelter with his “running mate,” Sis, after they were on the run for a least a week. Since then, Sis was adopted and is doing well. But Franke says she doesn’t understand why Bud is still waiting.

To give Bud his forever family or find another potential soulmate, please call the Babylon Animal Shelter at 631-643-9270.

“Our shelter is full and we are in dire need of adoptions, or even fosters which can save a dog’s life,” Franke said.

Normal adoption hours at the shelter are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In the meantime, the shelter needs experienced large dog handlers and its staff is happy to train interested dog lovers.

There’s also an abundance of bunnies, kittens and cats to spend time with too, Franke said. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact the shelter by calling the number above or emailing BASvolunteers80@gmail.com.

“They all continue to teach me messages of strength, endurance, love, forgiveness and compassion,” Franke said.
