‘Jaded’ de Blasio has bungled NYC’s relationship with Amazon
Last week in an exclusive story in The Post, it was reported that Amazon is looking very closely at a couple of extremely large spaces in Midtown.
While most mayors would be thrilled and bending over backward, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio — Bungling Bill — feels “jaded” that Amazon is now choosing The Big Island of Manhattan after dumping Long Island City plans that he claims Amazon just walked away from.
As usual, Bungling Bill — who treks three hours a day by motorcade from Gracie Mansion to Brooklyn and back just to exercise at his old YMCA — doesn’t quite get it.
Amazon didn’t “just walk away,” it was basically asked to leave by the mayor’s comrades in socialist economics, including former Bronx bartender and current Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — who doesn’t have enough business experience to fill a shot glass.
New York is a great city, rich in culture and diversity, and it has strong higher educational institutions. But first and foremost New York is a business city, one that needs tax revenue to run this populous island of productivity.
Amazon, which is reportedly looking at 250,000 square feet to start, far less than the 4 million it was prepared to take in Queens, would bring thousands of good-paying jobs to the city.
If the city treats Amazon right, tens of thousands more could easily follow.
De Blasio should be celebrating that a company like Amazon wants to come here. There should be red carpets and ribbon cutting.
The tax dollars that would come from the thousands of new jobs in the offing could go into fixing the city’s crummy roads and infrastructure.

New York is a very high-tax city. So we should welcome all the jobs — especially high-paying ones — we can get, not turn our backs on the workers looking to support and feed their families.
