Yankees’ Aaron Boone spent his MLB punishment in fine style

Aaron Boone didn’t have a bad seat for Friday’s win over the Rockies, when he served a one-game suspension for his profanity-laced rant in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Rays.

The manager spent the game in the suite of team owner Hal Steinbrenner and watched the Yankees, with bench coach Josh Bard filling in for Boone, beat Colorado for their fourth straight win in The Bronx.

“I was up in Hal’s box, mostly just outside, so I had the TV and a pretty good bird’s-eye view of the game,’’ Boone said before Saturday’s matinee against the Rockies. “It’s a nice way to watch the game.”

Boone admitted being a bit anxious at first.

“It was a little odd to start,’’ Boone said. “Once Edwin [Encarnacion] hit the [grand slam] home run, that helped a little bit. I was able to enjoy the game and get a different look at our positioning and the Rockies and how they position. And how the ball travels. I tried to enjoy it as much as I could.”
