WWE Reportedly Bailed On Talks To Have Batista Team Up with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania
As we noted earlier this week, via The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE Champion Dave Bautista was in talks with WWE at one point about being Ronda Rousey’s tag team partner at WrestleMania 34. The Observer added that despite talks between the two sides, the deal was never made, and eventually Kurt Angle was announced as Rousey’s partner for this Sunday.
Pro Wrestling Sheet has since picked up on the developing story, and has confirmed The Observer report that WWE and Batista were indeed in talks for the WrestleMania role. The Sheet adds that several conversations took place between Triple H and Batista, and The Animal was said to be interested in the idea as it could have planted the seeds for an eventual singles match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35. As we have noted in the past, Batista has been vocal about wanting another run in WWE which would culminate in a match against The Game.
The Sheet report continues that Batista and Triple H last spoke in January, and Batista was left with the feeling that he was booked for WrestleMania, but then he reportedly never heard from Triple H again about the match. The former WWE Champion reportedly reached out to WWE for an update on his WrestleMania status, but he received no response from Triple H or anyone in WWE.
