Updated Card for Clash of Champions, Former ECW Star on Smackdown
Clash of Champions will be taking place this Sunday night with Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles facing off for the WWE Championship in the main event. The other major match on the show is a tag team match featuring Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn taking on Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura. The match will also see Shane McMahon serve as the special guest referee for the match, and Owens and Zayn will be fired from all of WWE if they lose. During this past Tuesday’s edition of Smackdown, General Manager Daniel Bryan confirmed that he will also be joining the tag team match as the second special guest referee, perhaps indicating that the match will fall in the favor of Owens and Zayn.
During a special edition of The Fashion Files on WWE.com, it was revealed that Tyler Breeze and Fandango will be challenging the Bludgeon Brothers at Clash of Champions this Sunday night. Now that the Hype Bros are officially no more, Zack Ryder will be facing his former tag team partner Mojo Rawley during the pay-per-view’s pre-show. Other matches booked for the show include Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin for the United States Championship, and The New Day vs. Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable vs. Rusev & Aiden English vs. The Usos in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.
Rowan and Harper came down to the ring and proceeded to lay waste to their opponents on Smackdown this week as usual. However, fans could not help but notice a familiar face in the ring against The Bludgeon Brothers this week: former ECW performer Colin Delaney. The wrestler worked on WWE’s ECW brand as an enhancement talent back in 2007, and he was eventually released from the company about one year later. Delaney and independent wrestler Juan Francisco de Coronado lost to Harper and Rowan within just a matter of minutes. WWE posted a short interview with Delaney on social media afterwards, asking him what it was like to be back in a WWE ring for the first time in almost a decade.
