Update On CM Punk's Opponent For Second UFC Fight, Opening Betting Odds Set

As we reported this morning, UFC President Dana White was asked once again about the possibility of Brock Lesnar and CM Punk fighting in the UFC in 2018 during an appearance on the FS1 program “UFC Tonight” on Wednesday evening.

White had the following to say when asked about rumors of Punk fighting in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois at the UFC 225 pay-per-view that the company announced over the weekend.

“I don’t know. I don’t know if that’s where he will fight, but you know, he is healthy now and he’s interested in fighting,” said White. “We’ll see what happens. There is no deal for CM Punk to fight anywhere, so we’ll see how that thing plays out.”

It’s worth noting that the rumors continue regarding Punk fighting at the show, as odds makers have even released opening betting lines for the proposed fight, which would see the former WWE Superstar against Mike Jackson at the June 9 pay-per-view.

Jackson is 0-1 in the UFC and in professional MMA overall, having only competed against Mickey Gall in the fight to determine Punk’s first UFC opponent. Jackson lost in a quick match against Gall, which led to Gall defeating Punk at the UFC 203 pay-per-view back in September of 2016. If the match is made, it would be an 0-1 fighter versus an 0-1 fighter, which would give Punk his best chance at showcasing his ability inside the Octagon on the world stage in the UFC.

The aforementioned opening betting lines still have Punk as an underdog, as he is set at +195, while Jackson is -250. What this means is a $100 bet on Punk would net you $195 profit if he were to win. On the flip side of the coin, you would have to bet $250 on Jackson to earn $100 profit if Jackson were to defeat Punk.
