Tony Khan announces AEW Continental Classic Selection Special for Wednesday
A Continental Classic Selection Special will stream this Wednesday.
Tony Khan detailed the special on X Monday night. The special will announce all 12 competitors of the tournament, which begins on Dynamite later that night. The special will stream on X, YouTube, and Facebook.
“This Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, AEW Continental Classic Selection Special, all 12 fighters announced, interviews + more!,” he wrote. “The Selection Special streams this Wednesday + that same night, celebrate Thanksgiving Eve with Continental Classic matches this Wednesday.”
The Continental Classic will be a round-robin tournament in which twelve wrestlers will be split into two groups. The winner of the tournament will become a triple champion, holding three different titles: the ROH World Championship, the New Japan Strong Openweight title, and a new title in AEW called the Continental title. Eddie Kingston, Mark Briscoe, Andrade El Idolo, and Bryan Danielson have been announced thus far.
League finals will take place on the December 27 edition of Dynamite in Orlando. The winners of the two league matches will then advance to the finals at AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30 in Long Island.
