Moments later, firefighters confirmed entrapment in at least two vehicles and possibly five injured, including two Status 1 patients, and requested backup. The crash involved an SUV and a hatchback. A minivan near the SUV appeared to stop before striking the vehicle.

Dispatch sent EMTs and firefighters from Chichester, Concord, and Epsom. Just before 7 p.m., the commander requested another ambulance, and Pembroke Tri-Town and a battalion commander from Concord headed to the scene.

The Loudon fire commander requested Concord Hospital be put on alert for the trauma patients.

Just past 7 p.m., firefighters were still attempting to extricate people from one of the vehicles. A commander requested the New Hampshire DOT come to the scene to close Route 106 completely.

“We’re going to need to close one of those intersections,” they said. “We’re going to be here for a while. We need some help. Thanks.”

About 15 minutes later, firefighters requested two more trauma alerts due to a middle-aged man and a middle-aged woman with serious injuries.

According to police, five people were taken to the hospital and the road was expected to be closed for several hours.
