SCSU Recruit Class Ranked 2nd in Nation
Wrestling USA Magazine has ranked St. Cloud State University’s 2013-14 recruit class as the second best among the nation’s non-Division I recruiting classes. SCSU ranked first in the poll among Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools, as Minnesota State Mankato was ranked 15th in the poll.
“To receive this type of recognition is always an honor for our program,” SCSU coach Steve Costanzo said.
Newcomers to the SCSU program in 2013-14 include Alex Anaya ( 157), Andrew Foutch (125), Brett Stolarzyk (149), Bryce Fish (165), Dallas Collier (125), Dylon Braun (184), Fritz Vogel (133), Jarred Oftedahl (125), Joel Salomon (125), Jonah Gahm (149), Jordan Hanan (149), Mike Rhone (133), Ryan Zumwalt (157), Taner Trembley (141), Tanner Johnshoy (133), Tanner Schaefer (165), Tim Moore (174), Trae Story (197), and Travis Holt (157).
The Huskies ended the 2012-13 season with a perfect 21-0 dual record (8-0 NSIC). The Huskies won the 2013 NSIC championship, the 2013 NWCA Division II National Duals Championship and also claimed top honors at the 2013 NCAA DIvision II Super Region 3. At the 2013 NCAA Division II championships, the Huskies earned runner-up honors for the second consecutive season.
A total of seven SCSU wrestlers brought home All-America honors in 2013. Senior Shamus O’Grady led the way with a first place finish in the 184-pound bracket at the 2013 NCAA Division II championships.
SCSU Coach Steve Costanzo will begin his eigth season with the Huskies in 2013-14. The Huskies will return four All-Americans from last year’s squad including senior Andy Pokorny (133), sophomore Matt Nelson (141), sophomore Clint Poster (157), and sophomore Gabe Fogarty (165).

SCSU will kick-off the 2013-14 season on Nov. 8 with the annual Red-Black intra-squad match in Halenbeck Hall. On Nov. 16, the Huskies will hit the road to Ames, Iowa for the annual Nichols Open at Iowa State. SCSU fans will want to mark Dec. 14 on their calendars as SCSU will host the annual Husky Open in Halenbeck Hall that day.
