Report Illegal Fireworks In Temecula: 'You Light It, We Write It'

TEMECULA, CA — Residents of Temecula are asked to be part of the solution for reporting illegal fireworks this 4th of July holiday weekend. Don’t call 911, but do use this online form to report incidents.

The information you send will be directed immediately to officers in your area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to higher citation fees for many areas — and possible jail time — anyone who causes a fire due to illegal fireworks will be forced to pay the costs of suppression and damages, which can total millions of dollars, according to authorities.

Fireworks are illegal throughout Riverside County. A list of approved and permitted fireworks shows scheduled in the Temecula area this July 4 is located here.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will only respond to reports of fireworks that do not fall under the jurisdiction of Banning, Beaumont, Blythe, Cathedral City, Corona, Desert Hot Springs, Hemet, Indio, Menifee, Murrieta, Palm Springs, and Riverside.

If you see illegal fireworks being shot off, from bottle rockets at the end of a street to fully-fledged star-spangled booms, be sure and fill out this form from the Sheriff’s Department:

List your city, the specific address, and whether or not you want to be contacted. Anonymity is allowed, and it’s all in the name of safety.

“As we celebrate this holiday weekend, it’s essential to remember that emergency services are there to respond to genuine emergencies,” a spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. “Calling 911 to report fireworks may divert valuable resources and hinder their ability to respond promptly to life-threatening situations. Please use the link provided below to report fireworks. By doing so, we can help ensure that emergency services can focus on saving lives and protecting communities when it matters most.
