Report: AEW to make Montreal debut in December
AEW is set to make its long-awaited debut in Montreal, Quebec, Canada later this year.
Pat Laprade reported on Thursday that the promotion will run shows from The Bell Center on Tuesday, December 5, and Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Laprade wrote:
I spoke to multiple sources and AEW would make its long awaited Montreal debut on December 5 and December 6 at the Bell Center. Wednesday will be Dynamite and Rampage, and the Tuesday show should be Collision and ROH. AEW is currently doing a Canadian tour.
Laprade later added:
So for those wondering, I don’t have a confirmation that Collision will be taped on a Tuesday, only that there will be a show that night, but what else would be taped? AEW started pre-taping Collision (Hamilton was a Thursday) and WWE sometimes tapes 2 SmackDown the same day
Montreal's Bell Center has been home to many notable wrestling events since it opened in 1996. WWE Elimination Chamber on 2/18 from the venue was announced as the highest-grossing Elimination Chamber event in company history. It also broke records for merchandise sales.
WWE wrote of the event:
In addition, 2023 Elimination Chamber broke the all-time event merchandise record and generated the highest-grossing Priority Pass fan experience packages for any non-”Big Five” premium live event through WWE’s partnership with On Location. Elimination Chamber sponsorship revenue was up nearly 300 percent versus 2022.
Other notable shows from the venue include WWE Breaking Point 2009, WWE No Way Out 2003, and, of course, WWE Survivor Series 1997.
AEW has presented shows in Canadian cities such as Toronto (October 12 & 13, 2022, and June 24 & 25, 2023), Winnipeg (March 15, 2023) Hamilton (June 28 & 29, 2023), Edmonton (July 5, 2023) and will debut in Regina on 7/8, Saskatoon 7/12, and Calgary 7/15.
