Pregnant Shahs of Sunset Star Mercedes ‘MJ’ Javid Hospitalized Amid Miscarriage Fears

Mercedes “MJ” Javid is opening up about an unexpected situation that occurred during her high-risk pregnancy.

On Sunday, the pregnant Shahs of Sunset star, who revealed in October that she is expecting her first child with husband Tommy Feight, gave fans an update in a series of videos that were taken while Javid, 46, was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after Christmas.

In the emotional Instagram posts, Javid explained that she had recently undergone cervical cerclage surgery after her doctors discovered that her cervix was measuring too small — something she said could be “high risk” for a miscarriage.

Although the procedure was “painless,” “under an hour,” and only required her to stay in the hospital overnight, Javid revealed that she was now on bed rest until her baby boy makes his arrival.

“What you are seeing in these videos are me, very scared and nervous to learn that although the pregnancy was easy and uneventful for the first 18 weeks or so, during a check up, we found that my cervix was measuring to 1.5 centimeters, which is high risk for m.c,” the reality star captioned the first clip, which was taken in the hospital’s maternity unit.

“You get an epidural, and a stitch, which considered a rescue,” she continued. “Bedrest is far from the ideal way to spend these beautiful days, but I’m learning a lot during this quiet period.”

“How I’ve gotten through this is with a lot of faith, my beautiful father’s calming spirit inside of me, along with a maternal strength, and my husband’s unrelenting support and kindness,” she added, referencing her late father Shams Javid, who died in May.

In a separate, but very similar post, Javid said how she was in the “good hands” of her doctors, who were monitoring her cervix.

She also expressed her gratitude — amid the difficult situation — in the caption, noting how she was finding a silver lining despite being forced on bed rest.

“Thank you so much for all the messages of love and support along the way,” she wrote. “There is so much more to come and… [I am] finding a blessing in EVERYTHING ?♥️? #babyjourney #pregnancyjourney”

In October, Javid and Feight confirmed they were expecting their first child, a baby boy, together.

The mom-to-be told E! News that she was “really happy to open a new chapter” in her life after the death of her father, remarking, “I’m hoping that my baby will remind me of my father and, of course, have a piece of Tommy and me. It’s the cycle of life.”

But Javid’s pregnancy, which was assisted by the use of in vitro fertilization (IVF), has come with its challenges.

Back in July, after Javid opened up about her journey to expand her family during an appearance on Jeff Lewis Live, the reality star revealed that she had “run into all these little problems” with IVF, including “having polyp surgery.”

Removing uterine polyps is a common procedure performed by physicians during the IVF process to improve implantation rates before the transferring of the embryos.

Before implantation, she visited New York City for a “last hurrah,” explaining, “I won’t be able to travel [afterwards], because I’ll be considered a high-risk pregnancy. I get to go to New York and have a good time.”

Feight and Javid said “I do” in April. The lead-up to their wedding (and the ensuing drama) served as a storyline throughout Shahs of Sunset‘s seventh season. The wedding itself was also filmed and aired on the Bravo show.

Shahs has followed Javid and Feight’s romance from the beginning. The couple met on Tinder and got engaged in 2015 after over a year together.

“He’s been with me and present for every step of the way,” Javid told E! News of her husband. “When you get IVF done, there is a 10-day waiting period where you come back to get a blood and urine test and we did that together as well.”

“I really love to see how happy Tommy is and how excited and nervous,” she added. “You know, he gets to be a father!”
