Postal worker fatally shot while delivering mail, cops say
A postal worker was fatally shot Saturday in Louisiana while he was delivering mail — and a suspect has been arrested in connection to his murder, according to reports.
Antonio Williams, a 52-year-old letter carrier, was gunned down around 11:20 a.m. as he delivered mail to a residence in Shreveport, news station KSLA reported.
Williams was brought to a local hospital, but he died an hour later from his injuries, officials said.
That evening, police arrested 32-year-old Michael Jerred Gentry on suspicion of second-degree murder. He also faces charges of battery of a police officer, resisting an officer and theft.
Police said they don’t believe any dispute occurred between the two men before the fatal incident.
