Nylon editor Gabrielle Korn exits after Bustle acquisition

There’s even more churn at Bryan Goldberg’s Bustle as Nylon Editor-in-Chief Gabrielle Korn is exiting after five years, Media Ink has learned.

Bustle bought the title in June from its private equity owners.

Bustle Digital Editor-in-Chief Emma Rosenblum is going to edit the publication in the interim.

“Emma is the EIC over all lifestyle brands, including Nylon, and that was always the plan,” said a BDG spokeswoman.

Korn was promoted to the top job in 2017, when Nylon’s then-owner folded the print edition of the edgy fashion and culture title and said it would continue as digital only. Bustle said it intends to return to a print edition, but has been vague on the plans.

In a farewell note to readers, Korn recalled her elevation to the top spot just as the print edition was being jettisoned. “Being charged with keeping editorial afloat without the anchor of a beloved publication was scary, but it was also an absolute honor to get the title, one that I didn’t take lightly,” she wrote in a farewell note posted to social media.

“By now you’ve probably guessed where I’m going with this. I’ve weighed my options carefully, and the company’s acquisition feels like a natural conclusion to what has been a life-changing five years,” she continued.

Korn, who just turned 30, said she has a memoir coming out in June 2020 entitled “Everybody (Else) Is Perfect” — but otherwise has no new gig lined up. “This isn’t really goodbye. In solidarity, and onwards.”
