Northridge Woman Stabbed To Death Identified; Son In Custody

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Authorities on Monday identified a woman stabbed to death by her son in Northridge, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Fifty-eight-year-old Winnie Yong Gu died Friday at the home she shared with her 33-year-old son, according to the LAPD.

The suspect walked into the Devonshire Division of the Los Angeles Police Department at approximately 5:41 p.m. Friday and told officers he thought he had harmed his mother at their residence, an LAPD spokeswoman told City News Service.

Investigators went to the home on the 11000 block of Oakhurst Way and Mariposa Bay Lane and found the body of Yong Gu, according to the LAPD. She had been stabbed several times, investigators said.

Police did not immediately release a motive for the fatal attack. Her son was taken into custody on suspicion of fatally stabbing his.
