News on the Planned Segment Between Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar
Monday Night Raw featured an interesting segment last night involving this year’s Elimination Chamber winner Roman Reigns. A confrontation between Roman Reigns and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar had been advertised for Raw last night, but when Roman came down to the ring, he informed the audience that Lesnar was not in Anaheim, California for the show. Reigns then cut a scathing promo about how Lesnar has no respect for WWE or the fans. “The Big Dog” went on to promise that he will defeat Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania in April and win the Universal Championship for the very first time in his career. So what happened with Brock Lesnar last night?
According to PWInsider, the original segment would have been much more true to what the company had advertised. The report says that the script originally featured a segment with Reigns, Lesnar, and Paul Heyman having a lengthy back and fourth discussion on the show last night. The segment would have seen both competitors use a number of expletives, and it was set to air during the second hour of the show as Ronda Rousey’s segment from last night was always set to close out the show. Instead, Lesnar and Heyman were nowhere to be found last night and Reigns cited Lesnar’s recent meeting with UFC President Dana White as an example that “The Beast Incarnate” does not care about WWE.
The Wrestling Observer does mention that this elaborate storyline has been made by WWE on purpose in order to help Roman Reigns gain sympathy going into his WrestleMania match against Lesnar. Heyman has since commented on the angle on Twitter. The belief is that neither Heyman nor Lesnar were backstage for Raw last night, but Lesnar was apparently in Las Vegas (possibly meeting with White) while the Elimination Chamber event was ongoing in the same city. Lesnar’s next appearance for WWE is currently at a live event in Chicago this Saturday. His next advertised Raw appearance is for the show coming up in Detroit, Michigan on March 12th. Stay tuned for new updates on the status of the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.
Cute spin @WWE. By the way, the link doesn’t work. How will YOU explain THAT? https://t.co/vkfF31UiXT
