The All Blacks-capped centre sustained the blow in the 65th minute of play, leading to a delay of 15 minutes as he received treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off in a neck brace.

Saili was kept at Cork University Hospital for the night for observation purposes, according to a Munster statement this afternoon.

The 24-year-old was diagnosed with concussion, but Munster say that “an initial X-ray proved positive” and Saili will now return to his new home in Limerick.

Former Blues centre Saili will undergo a series of further tests with the Munster medical team in the coming days.

“We’re extremely pleased to see Francis make a return home today,” said Munster head coach Antony Foley. “Our priority now is to give him the care and time he needs to get right.”

Saili himself took to Instagram to share his thanks with supporters and attempt to ease fears over the injury.

“I’m down, but I’m never out!” wrote Saili. “Thank you everyone for the kind messages and support. Feeling a bit better this morning, photo looks worse than what it is but I’m okay.

“Will take it easy, but can’t wait to get back into action with my Irish Munster brothers! Thank you God and medical team for keeping me safe. Much love.”
