Mike Toomey Headlines Mirth Filled McAuley Comedy Night

CHICAGO — The Fathers Club and Mothers Club of Mother McAuley High School are hosting a mirth-filled night of laughter Saturday, March 2, featuring standup comics, dinner, raffles and split the pot.

The McAuley mamas and papas have assembled a stellar lineup of comedians, headlined by WGN Morning News Mike Toomey, a favorite at top comedy venues and special events. Toomey will assume his regular WGN news role as the “announcer” and perform his own comedy act riffing on raising a family and comparing it to his own childhood, as well as poking fun at pop culture, Fruity Pebbles and TV commercials.

Toomey will be joined by Chicago comics Tim Walkoe, Bill Bunker and Brian Good. You won’t hear any f-bombs, these comics don’t work blue.

Walkoe was the grand prize winner of ABC’s “America’s Funniest People.” He has been seen on Fox TV, A&E, HBO, Showtime, TNN, PBS and Fox Sports Net. Walkoe combines his fast-paced comedic style with improvisation and music.

A refugee from the corporate word, Bunker secretly honed his comedy act at night. Bunker is a veteran performer of 22 years, who weaves his wry observations of the absurdities of corporate culture, bad jobs, raising kids, self-checkouts, getting out of the house, the Pinewood Derby and more, reminiscent of Bob Newhart.

Proceeds raised by the respective parents clubs go back to support the Catholic girls high school, including coach buses downtown to the Drake Hotel on prom night, scholarships and other extras to enhance the McAuley student experience.
