Marseille close in on Azzedine Ounahi
According to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport Marseille have reached an agreement with Angers over a €10m move for midfielder Azzedine Ounahi (22). A four-and-a-half year contract is being prepared for the Moroccan international.
Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato reported meanwhile that the player was close to joining Marseille – with only a medical and the signing of documents in the way of an official announcement. He is not reporting the €10m figure cited by RMC Sport.
The World Cup star has been the subject of offers from various clubs. Leeds submitted an offer worth €25m earlier this month, joined by a bid worth just under €20m from Napoli. Leicester were also interested in the player along with Barcelona who were monitoring the situation.
Marseille president Pablo Longoria was in contact with the entourage of the player, but has now managed to convince Angers to agree to a deal.
The 22-year old has made 47 appearances for Le SCO after moving from third tier side Avranches – his performances in the World Cup brought him into the spotlight to those watching outside of French football, as the Atlas Lions reached a historic Semi-final position.
