WOODSTOCK, IL — Nearly a month after a Lake in the Hills mother was asked to leave a movie theater due to a noise complaint involving her disabled son, Jonathan, a Chicago mother who recently experienced the same thing is sharing how the two moms were able to connect, and meet other families with disabled loved ones thanks to a kind stranger from Louisiana.

The story of 3-year-old Jonathan and his family’s experience made its way to Beau Box, president and CEO of Beau Box Real Estate company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Box rented out a theater for Jonathan, his family and friends at Classic Cinemas in Woodstock, so they could all see “UglyDolls” for free on May 4.

According to a Facebook post by Wendy L. Cunningham Barnes, of Chicago, she was asked to leave a movie theater in April because someone reported that her son, Christian, was “being disruptive.” Barnes said she was blessed to be able to connect with Jennifer Flury Daly after she came across the report of Daly and her disabled son Jonathan’s similar experience during an April screening of “Dumbo” at a Lake in the Hills AMC Theater.

“Jennifer Flury Daly and I share the common bond of simply wanting to enjoy a movie with our boys, but being asked to leave,” Barnes wrote on Facebook. “Here is a wonderful way to enjoy a movie for those of you who have a disabled loved one.”

Daly and her family were left sad and angry after last month’s experience. Daly said she received movie vouchers and the female staff member at the theater gave Daly her contact information so she could “make this right.” Daly previously said she never asks anything of anybody, but does want to make sure this kind of incident never happens to anyone ever again. She said she didn’t know if she’d ever feel like she could go to the movies again because she wouldn’t “be able to enjoy myself if my son laughs that I might get kicked out. “

But thanks to Box, Daly, Christian and several others were able to have a positive and enjoyable movie theater experience Saturday, in addition to celebrating a friend’s birthday.
