Maghnes Akliouche’s entourage evoke potential Monaco departure
Speaking to Nice-Matin, a member of Maghnes Akliouche’s (20) has evoked the idea of a potential departure from AS Monaco, either on loan or permanently.
Having only featured eight times for Les Monégasques this season, including just four starts, Akliouche is considering his future at the club, according to his family. The France U20 international, who has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025, has been tested largely on the right. He has been used in rotation with Krépin Diatta, Gelson Martins and Takumi Minamino, although neither have convinced enough to become an undisputed starter.
However, his family believes that his best position is more central. His route to playing more centrally is potentially blocked by the explosion of Eliesse Ben Seghir, who has impressed since coming into the first team.
His family have now said that whilst Akliouche is in talks to extend his contract at Monaco, he is frustrated and is leaning towards a departure. “We aren’t closed, and negotiations are ongoing. Monaco will have their word, but we’re leaning towards a loan or a departure rather than continuing with Monaco. A player that doesn’t play, doesn’t progress,” said his family.
“This summer, Maghnes had the promise of playing more, and that hasn’t been the case. We respect the coach’s choices, but he is frustrated,” added his entourage.
Akliocuhe has previously been linked with a move to Lille by L’Équipe. Serie A side Atalanta are also said to have an interest in the attacking midfielder. The player has also recently switched agents and is now represented by DW Sports.
