Lionel Messi set for 5th World Cup tournament as Argentina squad announced
The Argentina squad for the 2022 World Cup has been announced by manager Lionel Scaloni, which features the familiar faces of Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala and Angel Di Maria.
From the Premier League, Argentina have selected Aston Villa pair goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, and Emiliano Buendía along with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martínez. Manchester City striker Julián Álvarez also features.
This will become Lionel Messi’s fifth World Cup with Argentina, the current PSG man having first appeared in the 2006 World Cup at 18 years old. Lyon defender Nicolas Tagliafico has also earned a call-up
