La Mesa To Hold Downtown Village and Neighborhood Cleanup

LA MESA, CA — The city of La Mesa is holding a city-wide cleanup event as a way to celebrate Earth Month, it was announced last week.

The litter cleanup, part of La Mesa’s new Litter Free La Mesa Series, will be held April 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. in La Mesa Downtown Village and Neighborhood, the city said on its website, adding that the event would “divert litter from traveling to the Pacific Ocean.”

City staff will be set-up with a check-in table at the La Mesa City Hall parking lot at 8130 Allison Avenue where participants can join the city and representatives from I Love A Clean San Diego at 9 a.m. for a talk about watersheds and the correct way to recycle.

“We will sort and dispose of collected litter, and after the cleanup you can receive community service verification in your Community Hub dashboard,” the city said.

This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. Participants can download and print the waiver here, and should sign it and bring it with them to the cleanup.

“Keep an eye out for more cleanup events coming up in La Mesa, as part of our new Litter Free La Mesa Series,” the city said.
