Jerry Lawler Talks Possible Split Announce Teams At WrestleMania 32
WWE Hall Off Famer Jerry Lawler appeared on Cerrito Live this past weekend and spoke about the possibility of split announce teams at WrestleMania 32 this year.
According to Lawler, there may be two different announce teams at this year’s WrestleMania as a way of getting he and Mauro Ranallo on the show. He said that while it’s not a done deal yet, he has heard “scuttlebutt” about the possibility of that happening, and mentioned that fans have requested that he and Ranallo work the show.
Lawler also spoke about his heel turn on commentary and noted that it was actually his idea. As Lawler put it, he knew Ranallo wouldn’t want to say anything bad about anyone because he’s the new guy, and that Byron Saxton was too nice of a guy, so he suggested to Vince McMahon that he return to his old heel announcer character.
He pointed out that he has only scratched the surface of his heel turn thus far, as he is still “easing into it.” He mentioned that McMahon loved the idea of him turning heel and even told him that he misses the way that “The King” used to be on commentary.
