Dolph Ziggler recently conducted an interview with 98.5’s Mike Riley and James Stewart Inside the Ropes podcast ahead of The DZ Comedy Tour on March 24 in Boston at Kowloon and Raw in Boston on March 25.
Ziggler discussed his current contract with WWE and noted he’s under a handshake agreement with WWE currently:
Technically I am, yes, said Ziggler. It’s weird because for the last two years I’ve had somewhat of a handshake agreement kind of behind closed doors deal with WWE, so I’ve been able to do a lot of things on my own not at WWE just because of the relationship we’ve had for the 14 years. I have a bit of a handshake agreement right now and well know some more details in the coming months.
Ziggler also discussed cashing in the Money in the Bank Briefcase at the Raw after WrestleMania on April 8, 2013 to win the WWE World Championship
I was told I was doing something special that day, but nothing much more, said Ziggler. Even then sometimes when you have an important match or a big segment on the show it gets cut before the show. I was just told to stand by for the most part. Be ready to go because we might do something with me. I went okay I assumed it would be cashing in, but also we do things live there’s one take there’s no switching around. I’ve been in matches where I’ve been told hey we’re switching this do this or you’ve added minutes or you’ve switched things around, so I was ready. In this business you don’t think anything is happening until it actually happens. I was ready to go, but didn’t know what was going on, but I was very aware if I was cashing it would be in the world title against the world champion, so I watched that match very closely and was right by gorilla waiting.
In the interview, Ziggler also talked about whether or not he was going to cash in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania, doing acting and comedy outside of wrestling, and The DZ Comedy Tour that is coming Kowloon in Boston on March 24.
