This latest relocation is in addition to ICON’s expanded new office in the heart of the central business district in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fla. ICON currently employs over 400 employees between the two locations. There is also an office in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.
Dawn Montelione, the senior vice president of human resources for ICON, confirmed the move with Patch this week. She said the firm plans to relocate this summer.
“As much as we have loved our time in Greenwich, we are excited about returning to Stamford for our new redesigned corporate headquarters,” Montelione said in an emailed statement.
She went on to say that Stamford provides opportunities for recruitment and recruiting since the new office is located near Interstate-95 and Metro-North.
“Our staff really wanted to be back in a thriving city, with great restaurants and bars and a very active nightlife. This new location will allow our employees to engage in a collaborative, modern office space boasting the latest technology with 360 degree views of the city of Stamford and Long Island Sound,” Montelione added. “An added benefit is that we get to continue our support for the local Stamford community with our long-standing relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford.”
The principles at ICON and RFR’s Margaret Carlson, who represented RFR in the lease transaction, have had a 30-year tenant/landlord relationship, and each share a deep connection with the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.
Carlson connected ICON with the Stamford Boys and Girls Club, which resulted in the creation of the ICON Invitational golf tournament. ICON has now sponsored the tournament for 20 years while also providing support for the club’s numerous community events.
In 2019, RFR executed significant capital improvements at Stamford Plaza, which included upgrades to lobbies and a new cafeteria at the complex.
