GOP Firebrand To Speak At Hinsdale Conservative Gala

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale area conservatives have drawn a high-profile speaker for a $495-a-plate gala in September in Chicago.

On social media, Thomas DeVore, a former Republican attorney general candidate, announced he was named the speaker for the “All Aboard for the School Board” gala.

Hinsdale-based Concerned Parents Illinois is organizing the event.

Hinsdale resident Kristina McCloy, a Downers Grove Township trustee, has been listed as the contact person for the event. She also manages the “Concerned Parents of Hinsdale” Facebook group, which bills itself as nonpartisan, and chairs the Concerned Parents political action committee.

Earlier this year, McCloy asserted on the Facebook page that schools are hiding what she considered the issue of African American children attacking white children.

McCloy has not returned numerous messages seeking comment.

On his Facebook page, DeVore said the Sept. 6 gala at London House in downtown Chicago would be a “very cool event.”

“Having their annual gala right in JB’s backyard,” DeVore said, referring to Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

DeVore’s Facebook posts are nearly all political. He criticizes Democrats such as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Less than an hour after the attempted assassination of Republican Donald Trump, DeVore implied on Facebook that the shooting was the work of Democrats.

“These rotten bastards will resort to anything!!” he said. “The courts aren’t working for them so they are resorting to violence!! MAGA!”

A half hour later, DeVore wrote, “Unconfirmed that the shooter is dead as well as an innocent woman!! Democrats are rotten to the core!!”

He had the victim’s gender wrong. A man, Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was standing behind Trump, was killed by the shooter.

And no evidence has emerged that the shooter had definitive political learnings, let alone took part in a Democratic conspiracy. The shooter was a registered Republican who donated $15 to a progressive group.

DeVore, a lawyer who lives in downstate Sorento, gained fame suing the state over its pandemic restrictions.

In the 2022 election, Democrat Kwame Raoul defeated Republican DeVore with 54 percent of the vote for a second term as attorney general.
