GoFundMe Started After Mom Hit By Car En Route To Day Care
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A GoFundMe has been started to aid the family of a woman who was hit by a car as she walked her kids to day care in Downers Grove.
The man who launched the fundraiser, Joseph Rizzo writes that his sister, Alex Rizzo, pushed her daughter and her daughter’s friend, both six years old, out of the way as a car veered onto the sidewalk. Multiple bones in Rizzo’s leg were broken or displaced by the impact, the fundraiser said. It’s anticipated she will have to be hospitalized for “several days” and undergo physical therapy, the GoFundMe said.
Downers Grove Police did not immediately respond to Patch’s request for more information.

According to Joseph Rizzo’s post, Alex is a single mother of three and will not be able to work during her recovery.
He writes, “My sister is a very proud and humble woman who doesn’t like to ask for assistance even when she needs it, which is why I am organizing this on her behalf. The financial burden that will come from this tragic incident will be substantial. Please consider donating in any way possible.”
