Gap launches Soho pop up shop
On Thursday Gap will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a concept pop-up boutique – Gap1969 in Soho’s Kingly Court in London. Customers can expect to find exclusive denim styles, as well as designer and artist collaborations with Pierre Hardy and Pharrell Williams and French artist Garance Dioré.
For 19 days and 69 hours exactly, the three floors at G7/G8 Kingly Court will showcase an extensive collection of iconic Gap denim styles that have been exclusively produced for the store in uniquely engineered ways. These extra special collections will only be available in runs of 69 and will be stamped and numbered.
Over the years, Gap have always been part of giving something back to the world in the form of (PRODUCT)REDTM. On 10th September only, you can purchase these limited edition rinsed jeans in your favourite Gap fit for only £19.69. 50% of the profits from all jeans sold will go towards the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa, so you can shop with a conscience.
Girls can pick up the latest season ankle boots that have been reworked in un-washed indigo from Pierre Hardy for Gap. Wear with a t-shirt designed by celebrated French illustrator and photographer Garance Doré, who has also adorned the walls with her subtle and provocative drawings.
For guys, Pharrell Williams has teamed up with Gap Japan and reworked the Gap classics in his capsule collection. Khakis, t-shirts, grey marl hoodies and tennis shoes are all made from recycled plastic bottles. The one of a kind fabric is just like cotton and will have its European launch in Carnaby’s Kingly Court.
Keeping with the ‘discs and jeans’ theme that started this global phenomenon, Gap are hosting exclusive free live gigs featuring today’s hottest new music stars including VV Brown, Taio Cruz and Erik Hassle in-store. Check out VV Brown with her 60’s inspired soulful voice to launch the boutique on Friday 10 September at 8pm. You don’t need a ticket, but is first come first serve to see these great artists.
