SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The Flood Warning is extended in Somerset County as some rivers hit Moderate Flood Stage.

As of Thursday morning, the Millstone River at Griggstown is at the Moderate Flood Stage at 14.92 feet just below the Major Flood stage at 15 feet.

As a result, flooding has closed Griggstown Causeway, River Road in Blackwells Mills, S. River Street in Millstone, and the base of the Route 533 bridge. River Road between Yorktown and Amsterdam and Canal Road near Suydam Road are subject to close.

The D&R Canal is also flooded by the Millstone River.

The Raritan River in Bound Brook is at the Minor Flood stage at 29.11 feet just below the Moderate Flood stage at 30 feet.

“At 28 feet, backyard and low areas are protected by levees and the flood wall. Without the levees or if there is a breach in the levees, minor flooding will occur. At 30 feet, Main Street is protected by flap valves/sluice gates. This level triggers the gate closures to protect Main Street,” according to Somerset County.

The river is expected to fall below flood stage late on Thursday afternoon and continue falling to 20.1 feet by early Sunday morning.
