Investigators who are probing the college admissions cheating scandal are now eyeing former NFL quarterback Pat Haden — the one-time athletic director of the University of Southern California, a report said Wednesday.

Prosecutors are looking into Haden’s relationship with William “Rick” Singer, the architect of the wide-ranging scam, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the investigation.

Haden played for the Los Angeles Rams for six years and helped USC capture two national titles in the 1970s.

In a statement through his son-in-law, Haden denied knowing about Singer’s college admissions scam.

“Like many people, I was introduced to Mr. Singer several years ago by a friend. I was unaware of his illegal activities and had no ongoing relationship with him whatsoever,” Donnie Dixon Haden told the Journal.

He added that his father-in-law had not been contacted by federal authorities.

Investigators are looking into a meeting between Haden, Singer and Donna Heinel, a former USC assistant athletic director who was charged in the admissions scandal, the source told the Journal.

Heinel pleaded not guilty to a racketeering charge.

Haden allegedly brought Heinel into the meeting with Singer and suggested she work with him to bring wealthy families to the school, according to the report.

Singer, who pleaded guilty to charges related to the scandal, funneled bribes from wealthy families to athletic programs at colleges across the country so their children could be accepted to the schools.

The scandal ensnared actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, among others.
