Edge Calls Undertaker/Cena Match "Odd," Explains How Reigns In Main Event Didn't Pay Off
WWE Hall Of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland shared his thoughts on WrestleMania 34, along with his co-host and former tag-team partner Christian, on the latest edition of their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness.
During the show, “The Rated-R Superstar” explained why Roman Reigns has fallen victim to headlining an overly lengthy WrestleMania card, and how that negatively affects his spot on the show despite being in the main event.
“I think that [has] affected Reigns two years in a row now,” said Edge. “You want to be in the main event, but you’re in the main event after six-and-a-half hours of wrestling. That’s a tough position to be in, no matter who you are, to try and keep a crowd engaged. It is too long, but I get the flip side. You’re trying to get people on the show.”
The WWE Hall Of Famer also shared his thoughts on the unusual match between The Undertaker and John Cena at last Sunday’s big WWE event in New Orleans. As Edge explains, he was “confused” by the “odd” match.
“The Taker/Cena thing… I’m confused,” Edge admitted. “Yeah, even sitting in the crowd and running to the back. And then, what was it, a five-minute match or something? Was it? I mean, who knows going into it what limitations there are or anything like that, but, man, there was an opportunity to have a dream match at WrestleMania and it felt lost somehow. I don’t know.”
Edge added, “It was just odd. I guess that’s really what it was to me. It was just odd.”
