Ed Harris is replacing Jeff Daniels in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

Broadway’s next Atticus Finch has blue eyes.

Ed Harris, a four-time Oscar nominee and star of TV’s “Westworld,” will take over from Jeff Daniels in Broadway’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” this fall, as the New York Times reported.

Daniels received excellent reviews and a Tony nomination for the role Gregory Peck made iconic in the 1962 film. (Bryan Cranston edged him out in his win for “Network.”)

Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic novel, co-starring LaTanya Richardson Jackson, has been playing to full houses since it opened in December. Strong reviews and word-of-mouth — and premium-priced seats — have propelled it to becoming the largest-grossing play in Broadway history.

Daniels leaves the show on Nov. 3, and Harris will step in two days later.

But this isn’t Harris’ first rodeo: He appeared in Broadway’s “Taking Sides” several years ago and has been in several off-Broadway productions, notably Sam Shepard’s “Buried Child,” a role Harris also performed in London’s West End. He was also the sole performer in Neil LaBute’s haunting one-man show, “Wrecks,” more than a dozen years ago.

So he definitely has the right stuff.
