David Brabham denies F1 comeback rumors

The rumor mill spun an odd piece of news last week based on a story involving a US consortium supposedly interested in buying Force India and bringing back the Brabham name in F1.

The group’s ultimate ambition was to launch a Brabham supercar allegedly, and use the Formula 1 outfit as its promotional tool.

But David Brabham, the son of Sir Jack, denied the gossip, insisting no return of the Brabham name to Grand Prix racing is in the cards. At least not for now.

“We have had quite a few approaches from different people/organisations who want to discuss licensing the Brabham name in different sectors,” Brabham explained.

“But they have been nothing but talk.

“Would I like to see Brabham back in F1 one day? Sure, but only if it makes sense,” he added.

“If someone approaches us with an interesting proposition and it ties in nicely with our vision of the brand, then we would be foolish not to listen.

“I can’t see a situation like that happening for a while, especially as the F1 payouts favor the top teams.”
