It is largely predicted, due to C.M. Punk’s first pro wrestling match in seven-and-a-half years, that AEW’s All Out show on 9/5 in Chicago, that All Out will be the biggest PPV event in AEW history.

If that’s the case, it will be the biggest non-WWE pro wrestling PPV show since November 21, 1999, the WCW Mayhem show, which did 200,000 buys. AEW’s prior High Point was Revolution on 3/7 doing approximately 145,000 buys.

SATURDAY NEWS UPDATE

On SmackDown last night, it was said that Pat McAfee is feeling much better and will return to commentary when SmackDown comes to Madison Square Garden next Friday. Corey Graves filled in for McAfee on last night’s show. It was the second straight SmackDown that McAfee had to miss after testing positive for COVID-19.
Sasha Banks was backstage at last night’s SmackDown.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that SmackDown averaged 2.147 million viewers in the fast national ratings last night. Last night’s numbers weren’t affected by preseason football. Due to Monday’s Labor Day holiday, final ratings for SmackDown won’t be out until Tuesday.
In a storyline injury update, it was said on Talking Smack that Cesaro suffered a cervical strain when he was attacked by Seth Rollins on SmackDown. Today’s Talking Smack also featured interviews with Sami Zayn, Toni Storm, and The Street Profits. Storm’s interview was interrupted by Zelina Vega.
WWE officially announced that NXT’s revamp will begin on the Tuesday, September 14 episode of the show.
Today is Xavier Woods’ 35th birthday.
WWE has filed a trademark for “Brodown.”
Rick Boogs was the guest on this week’s episode of WWE After the Bell.
WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship from Unforgiven 2007, Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero in a no DQ match from the September 26, 2002 episode of SmackDown, and Rey Mysterio vs. John Morrison for the Intercontinental title from the September 4, 2009 episode of SmackDown.

AEW’s Countdown to All Out special is now available on YouTube.
In addition to the other ways the pay-per-view can be purchased, All Out will be available via Fite TV in the United States and internationally (except for Israel and India).
ESPN’s Marc Raimondi wrote a feature story on the behind the scenes of CM Punk signing with AEW.
Punk will be getting his first AEW action figure as part of Unmatched Collection series four. Series three of the collection will feature a Brodie Lee action figure.
Punk appeared on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie earlier this week.

AEW has hired Shane Emerson as their Head of Global Programming and Partnerships. Emerson worked for Impact Wrestling from 2011-2017.
Bandido & Rey Horus will face The Briscoes in a tag team match on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, September 11. Chris Dickinson & Homicide defending their ROH Tag Team titles against Dragon Lee & Kenny King is also set for that episode, along with Josh Woods vs. Will Ferrara in a Pure Rules match.
The identity of the two free agents who will be facing each other at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view will be revealed on Tuesday’s episode of ROH Week By Week. ROH has stated that the two free agents were recently released by another organization. Death Before Dishonor is taking place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Sunday, September 12. 
Will Ospreay will be a special guest on Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea Triple Whammy cruise. Ospreay won’t be wrestling on the cruise but will be making several guest appearances.
