Buddy Murphy Set To Defend Cruiserweight Title at WWE Royal Rumble

Buddy Murphy will defend the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble on Sunday, January 27. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick’s announcement laid out the plan for the brand’s three qualifying matches.

Kalisto will face Lio Rush, Akira Tozawa will take on Drew Gulak and Cedric Alexander will go one-on-one with Hideo Itami. The winner of each match will go on to compete in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Buddy Murphy.

Buddy Murphy has been billed as the “best kept secret” in WWE, but many fans are indeed beginning to recognize his tremendous ability. Murphy’s matches with Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander are considered to be some of the best on any WWE program over the past year.

Murphy will surely be on his game once again when he steps into the ring at the Royal Rumble. This Fatal 4-Way Match could very well be the biggest title match in 205 Live history.
