Brazilian pop star Gabriel Diniz killed in plane crash at age 28
A Brazillian pop singer with millions of fans on social media was killed in a plane crash at age 28, according to a report.
Gabriel Diniz died traveling to visit his girlfriend Monday for her birthday on a flight from the city of Salvador, the Guardian reported.
The Latin artist was a passenger on the Maceió-bound plane, which reportedly crashed encountering bad weather near Porto do Mato on the southern coast.
Diniz — who has nearly 5 million followers on Instagram — was killed along with the aircraft’s two pilots, Linaldo Xavier and Abraão Farias, in the accident, the news outlet reported
His record label confirmed the “Paraquedas” singer’s death Monday in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we’ve received confirmation of the untimely death of the singer and composer Gabriel Diniz, who was part of Universal Music Brasil,” Universal Music said. “Known for his charisma, and exhilarating presence on and off stage, Gabriel Diniz gained millions of fans throughout Brazil.”
The flight operator, Aeroclube de Alagoas, has been suspended as officials investigate the cause of the crash, according to the Guardian.
