Very soon, the much-awaited plantain leaf meal at a wedding may be a thing of the past. So also plastic water bottles placed by the plantain leaf during lunch. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a diktat to all the choultries (wedding halls) to shun plastic water bottles and plantain leaves too.

In a bid to control the plastic menace in the city, and to reduce waste generated at weddings, the BBMP on Friday (September 7) issued a notice to the managements of all kalyan mantaps, weddings halls, choultries to make some changes.
