BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn straphangers have a message for the late and great Aretha Franklin: You Send Me.

A sign in the Bed-Stuy Franklin Avenue subway station was corrected Thursday morning by a local artist who added to it one of the most beloved names in the history of music.

“[I was] saddened by the passing of Aretha Franklin and wanted to do something to show respect to the Queen of Soul,” the person responsible for the improvement, who asked not to be named, told Patch.

Aretha’s name was added to signs on the upper and lower platforms of the C train and shuttle station at Franklin Avenue and Fulton Street, the organizer said, “to show Ms. Franklin some love.”

Other artists have created similar memorials to Aretha at the Franklin Street station in lower Manhattan, where they added her name to signs and transcribed her lyrics.

There are no immediate plans to remove the station tributes, transit officials said.

The MTA’s official comment was: “R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”
