Six days after an 18-year-old girl was set ablaze allegedly by a stalker in Pauri district, the victim who suffered 80% burn injuries breathed her last at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi on Sunday morning.

Confirming her death, additional director general of police (law and order), Ashok Kumar, said, “The girl was in an extremely critical condition. She passed away during treatment on Sunday morning.”

Kumar added that section 320 (murder) would be added against the accused who was earlier booked under 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
