DUBLIN’S YOUNGSTERS ADVANCED to the semi-finals of the Bord Na Móna O’Byrne Cup today with a 1-12 to 1-9 win over Wexford in Enniscorthy, while DCU did them a favour in defeating UCD in the battle of the students.

Dublin – who again fielded an experimental team under stand in manager Paul Clarke – claimed the three-point success to finish top of Group 1 and set up a last four tie with Kildare next Sunday.

The results saw Dublin top the group on four points with Wexford and UCD both rueing their failure to win as they finished up on three points.

UCD had overcome Dublin last Wednesday night in Parnell Park but lost today to DCU by 0-18 to 1-9 in Belfield.

Dublin may have suffered a first-half setback with the dismissal of forward Gary Sweeney but a goal by Conor McHugh helped them go ahead 1-7 to 1-4 at the interval.
