– Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves opened the show for the Smackdown Live brand, heading down to the ring after a video package that focussed heavily on Ronda Rousey.

DANIEL BRYAN vs. BIG CASS

Bryan outmaneuvered the big man early on and countered him move for move into different submissions, but eventually ran head first into a big boot. Cass slowed things down, bullying his opponent all around the ringside area for several minutes, using his size to his advantage to stop any and all momentum. He dropped a running elbow and spent a little too much time posturing and Bryan started chopping him down to size with stiff kicks all over the body. He connected with a huge shotgun dropkick to take Cass off his feet and applied the Yes Lock, but the big man’s long legs made it too easy for him to get to the ropes and break the hold.

Bryan exercised the full five-count before teasing a suicide dive, but instead mounted the top turnbuckle and launched himself to the floor instead, sending them both crashing into the barricade. Eventually they rolled back into the ring, but it was Cass who got the upper hand with a huge right hook, then a big boot for a close two-count. The crowd started getting bored at this point, chanting “CM PUNK” and all sorts of profanity at the seven-footer.

Bryan got the momentum back after catching Cass in the ropes and attacking the back of his previously injured leg. He set up for the running knee strike, but the big man countered throwing him high into the air. Cass connected with a huge big boot and picked up a very close two-and-a-half count, before going back to work. He tried for a torture rack, but Bryan struggled from and connected with a killer running knee strike out of the corner! 1….2… Into the Yes Lock and Cass is forced to tap out!

Winner: Daniel Bryan

– The New Day were all hanging out backstage when Kevin Owens showed up and dumped out a giant bag of pancakes in front of them. He also had two gallons of maple syrup and the boys went absolutely insane. Owens tried to convince them to team up and take out Braun Strowman before he can enter tonight’s ladder match, but they freaked out on him when he said he didn’t like pancakes or any kind of breakfast food, including Booty O’s cereal. This wonderful segment ended with The New Day stealing his maple syrup and chasing him off.
